AgriFutures Rural Women's Awards

The RGA are strong supporters of Women in Agriculture. Earlier in September the RGA had the opportunity to send a table of representatives to Canberra to attend the AgriFutures Rural Women’s Awards Gala Dinner, where NSW Finalist Jo Palmer was announced as the 2019 national award winner. Some of our female staff members along with RGA board members and other representatives attend the evening on behalf of the rice industry. A lovely evening that featured networking opportunities, showcased the state finalists and their projects along with the opportunity to meet industry leaders and politicians. Our ladies were fortunate enough to be seated with member for Farrah and Minister for the Environment Sussan Ley, an excellent opportunity to discuss Rice Matters.

The ladies trip to Canberra continued with RGA staff meeting with the Department of Ag to progress the Rice R&D Levy Proposal, and a visit to Parliament house including a visit to the Senate and meeting with Senator Perin Davey.

The AgriFutures™ Rural Women’s Award is Australia’s leading Award in acknowledging and supporting the essential role women play in rural industries, businesses and communities.

The Award provides a platform to inspire and support Australian women to use and develop their skills to benefit their industries and communities. The Award can also secure funding for innovative ideas and projects, or open doors to professional development and Alumni networks. State/territory winners will receive a $10,000 bursary generously sponsored by Westpac.

Location is no barrier. The Award is open to all women involved in rural industries, rural and regional businesses and rural and regional communities, regardless of their postcode. The selection criteria also lends itself to awarding the winners for significant potential to create positive impact, not a reward for previous work done.

All finalists are also invited to join our Alumni network of more than 300 accomplished women who’ve been acknowledged for their contribution to rural industries and rural and regional Australia in range of different specialisations.

Applications close on Thursday, 31 October 2019. READ MORE
